For Thursday July 24, 2014 our "Sensational 7 Roll Call" continues: Class of 1996 Honoree Jim Pufal who played and coached for the University of Texas and earned multiple High School "Coach of the Year" honors; El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame Son/Father duo Member and Class of 2001 Honoree Jimmy Melendez the All District player at Bel Air High School who later coached his Riverside Rangers to the 2000 Texas High School Baseball Final 4 State Semi-Finals; Class of 1999 Honoree Joe “Chito” Dominguez a All District player for Jefferson High School's first District Championship in 1951 batting .370 and he turned down a scholarship at Arizona to play professionally in the Arizona-Texas League; El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame Inaugural Class of 1988 Honoree Joe C. Hague the multi-sport star at Bel Air High School and the University of Texas, signed with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1968, played in the 1972 World Series and the El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame presents an annual award in his honor; El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame Son/Father/Son trio member and Class of 2006 Honoree Joe Carrasco the 4 year starting second baseman for Ysleta High School who helped lead them to a District Championship and later became the first baseball coach at Socorro High School in 1974 and El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame Father/Son Member and Class of 1994 Honoree Joe Castillo who started playing Semi-Professional baseball at age 16, played shortstop and Pitcher and led Jefferson High School to a District Championship and later signed and played for the Pittsburgh Pirates organization . . .
