“From a Silver Past to a Golden Future - - We Honor Excellence” . . . For Monday November 24, 2014 our "Elite 11" Roll Call continues: El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame Board of Directors and Class of 2008 Honoree Bobby Morales the star player for Bel Air High School and as the Head Baseball Coach at his alma mater led the Highlanders to the District, Bi-District, Regional and Area Championship in 1983 and the finals of the “Elite 8” Texas High School State Playoffs; Class of 2004 Honoree Bruce Wayne Ruffin who earned multiple All District honors at Hanks High School, earned All Conference honors when he helped pitch the University of Texas Longhorns to the 1983 National Championship, played in the Major Leagues for 12 years and he shares the Major League record for most strikeouts in one inning with 4; El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame Founder, Hall of Fame Inaugural President and Class of 1990 Honoree Bufe C. Morrison who championed the idea that led to the creation of the El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame in 1988, College All American for Texas Western, 15X All Star, 7X MVP and he has been inducted into 6 different Halls of Fame; Class of 2003 Honoree Cerjio “Marty” Martinez who spent nearly 30 years contributing his talents to baseball in the Southwest Region and Class of 1989 Honoree Charles R. “Smitty” Smith a 2X All District player at Austin High School, posted a pitching record in Semi-Pro baseball of 111–26 and he was offered Professional baseball contracts by three different organizations . . .
