For Friday July 25, 2014 our "Sensational 7 Roll Call" continues: Class of 2009 Honoree Joe Henderson who was drafted in the fifth round by the California Angels in 1965 and he earned a World Series ring with the Cincinnati Reds “Big Red Machine” in 1976; Class of 1995 Honoree Joe Overton the All Southeastern Conference MVP Pitcher for the Auburn Tigers, signed with the San Francisco Giants in 1963 and he coached Coronado High School to the District and Bi-District Championship; El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame Board of Directors and Class of 2010 Honoree Joey Pennies the All District player for Coronado High School, All-Western Athletic Conference for UTEP, played and coached in the Italian Professional Baseball League and he trained Pitchers for the Italian National team for the 1992 Olympics; Class of 1991 Honoree John Bode “Bob” Osborne who started his career in the sandlots of El Paso but his skills moved him into the majors as a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals and one of his top starts was a 12-inning game he pitched and lost 1-0 on an error against Grover Cleveland Alexander; Class of 1998 Honoree John C. Miller the hitting star at both El Paso High School and Texas Western who finished his 4 year college career with a .313 batting average and later coached Coronado High School to the 1988 District Championship and Class of 1989 Honoree John Phelan who served as Commissioner for the El Paso Little League in 1955 and President of the El Paso Sports Association which revived professional baseball in 1962 . . .
