2017 Banquet
Sunday August 13, our 30th Anniversary Banquet concluded our Induction Week celebration with a recent record crowd of 431 which breaks all recent records. That week we received a to that time new web site record 11,748 views to our web site for the week ending Sunday August 13. By Sunday August 20, the week after our 30th Anniversary celebration we set a new record of 12,229 web views to our site. On Saturday August 12, our Hall of Fame hosted a Golf Tournament at Painted Dunes with proceeds shared with our designated charity the Child Crisis Center. Our Class of 2017 Inductees Jesse Munoz, John Cazares, Luis Gonzalez, Lonnie Dugger and Rene Quinones threw out the first pitch at the Chihuahua Game on Friday August 11. The City of El Paso proclaimed this week El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame Week in a ceremony during the Tuesday August 8 City Council Meeting. The El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame also honored all 6 Teams who made it to the Texas High School Final 4 State Semi-Finals and Champions 1949 Bowie Bears, 1965 Austin Panthers, 1983 Burges Mustangs, 1992 Coronado Thunderbirds, 2000 Riverside Rangers and the 2009 Socorro Bulldogs; Senior Player of the Year Lalo Lara; College Players of the Year Orlando Garcia, George Navadel, Ruben Renteria; High School Players of the Year Andres Alvidrez, Eric Villegas, Fernie Zubia, Miguel Soto, Pablo Cortes; Youth Coach of the Year Derek Dominuez and High School Coach of the Year Willie Romo at our 30th Anniversary Banquet. Friday August 11, our Hall of Fame hosted a Chihuahua Night for our Members and their Families and our Inductees threw out the first pitch.
On Tuesday August 8, El Paso City Council led by Mayor Dee Margo proclaimed this week El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame Week.
Congratulations to El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame Media Chairman and Class of 2008 Honoree Tom “Joe Fan” Ciaburri who got extensive and record media coverage for the Inaugural El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame Select Showcase. On Media Day we had a full turnout (Channel 4, Channel 9, Telemundo 48, Univision 26, El Paso Times Felix Chavez and Bill Knight, El Paso Times Photographer and two free lance photographers who packed the room for individual photo shoots and group interviews to begin the recognition and celebration of our El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2017. For practices, “Joe Fan” arranged for media coverage leading up to record media coverage for our Inaugural Baseball Classic Game. The El Paso Times ran a thread covering our Inductees for a week on a daily basis. Updated August 8, 2017
Saturday August 5, 2017 the 30th Anniversary of the El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame throws its first pitch when its Inaugural Select Showcase Baseball Classic Game was played at El Paso Community College Baseball Field. Parent/Player Pre-Game ceremonies started right before 9 AM and our first pitch was delivered ahead of schedule. Our Hall of Fame hosted the first Select Showcase Baseball Classic in front of a packed crowd with a 8-7 thriller played at El Paso Community College on Saturday August 5.
The month of July saw phenomenal media coverage continue for our Media Day introducing our Class of 2017 elected Honorees for Induction: Jesse Munoz, Luis Gonzalez, John Cazares, Rene Quinones and Lonnie Duggar.
June 30, our Select Showcase had 4 TV stations and saw Coaches with the University of Oklahoma, St. Mary’s University, New Mexico State and Sul Ross State University, Howard JC, New Mexico JC, New Mexico Military Institute and El Paso Community College which hosted all events.
June 29, our El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame launched an information driven College Night with 129 attendees including players selected to participate in our Select Showcase
