Ruben Muñoz
Inducted in 2025
Started playing as a 6-year old at Alamo Park with a career of nearly 60 years including playing in a Semi-Pro Baseball League and 22 years of Old-Timers baseball play
He played his last 8 years after two open heart surgeries
Began coaching career in 1982 with the schools and coaching tee ball, Youth, Freshmen, Junior Varsity and High School Varsity levels
Coached at Bowie High School, Hanks High School through 2014, continued as Volunteer Assistant at Franklin High School and currently at Eastwood High School covering a period of 44 years
Continuing to learn the game of baseball and its intricacies is a passion including learning how to construct pitching mounds for multiple high schools in the El Paso area as well as New Mexico State University
His Father Alfonso joined our Lord’s Heavenly Kingdom when he was 3 years old
His Mom Lupe joined our Lord’s Heavenly Kingdom in March of 2025 at 100 years old and kept the family together embraced in Faith as a single Parent raising him to be a proud Graduate of Cathedral High School and his Sisters Lupe Duran, Gloria Garcia and Irene Muñoz
Blessed to have an amazing Life Partner in wife Guadalupe Muñoz and Daughter Jenny who played Division I Soccer at the University of Texas San Antonio and Son Ruben who played Division I Baseball at Texas A&M Corpus Christi and for whom he has served as a volunteer Coach at Franklin and Eastwood High Schools for the past 12 years that his son has been a Head Coach
