Jorge Perez

Elected in 2020 – Inducted in 2021
Jorge Perez was a member of two undefeated National Championship Teams in Mexico
He earned RBI Champion in 1980 and MVP and Batting Champion honors in 1982
Perez won the HR Title In the 1985 National Tournament.
Jorge played three years at Cathedral HS under Coach Derek Dominguez, earning 1st Team All-State Honors in 1990 and 1991
His batting average was .607 in 1991 earning him the TCIL State Batting Crown
He pitched a No-Hitter in the season opener vs Montwood (14 K’s) and struck out 17 at the State Tournament against San Antonio Central Catholic in a 5-3 victory
Finished 12-3 with a 1.51 ERA and 162 K’s in 81 IP
Jorge was named 1st Team All-City, Sunturians Athlete of the Month in April, received the El Paso Baseball Hall Of Fame President’s Award and Senior Showcase MVP
He played two years at NMJC under Coach Ray Birmingham hitting .449 in 1992, .444 in 1993 with 9 HR’s
Jorge earned 1st Team All-WJCAC honors
He finished his career at NMSU under Coach Elliott Avent in 1994-1995, hitting .388 as a Senior and led the team in HR’s (11) and RBI’s (49)
Named 1st Team All-Conference and Big West Conference Player of the week in March 1995.
Perez played for the Mexican National Team in 1998 and 2000
He also was a member of two Juarez State Championship Teams in 1996 and 2000
In 1996, led the State in Doubles, 2nd in total hits, 3rd in RBI’s
In 2000, led the State in HR’s (51)
